In real life phenomena, interval type-2 fuzzy numbers are involved when it comes to decision making in a fuzzy environment. Hence, it is no surprising, thus, that ranking of interval type-2 fuzzy numbers are given preference. In this paper, a new method of ranking interval type-2 fuzzy numbers has been proposed based on two factors, viz., ill-defined quantity value and the uncertainty inherent in the ill-defined quantity ambiguity. Further, some numerical examples are also discussed which highlight the strong discrimination power over the some well-established methods. Furthermore, this is followed by a discussion of a supplier selection problem with the application of the proposed method of ranking interval type-2 fuzzy numbers.
