摘要
The accurate estimation of the expected long term wind resource is of fundamental importance to the success of any proposed offshore wind farm. PowerGen has significant expertise in this area, resulting from its long-term involvement with potential offshore wind farms, and the associated data collection and analysis exercises. In the context of the increasing national interest in offshore wind energy this paper reviews PowerGen's experience, and compares empirical and theoretical methods for wind resource prediction.
