摘要
Appropriate concentrations of NO (nitric oxide) and of Ca2+ in the blood may protect against hardening of the arteries (arteriosclerosis). Furthermore the protection given may depend upon the concentration. Glutathione, redoxin, superoxide dismutase and catalase are also supposed to have the same effect. Ca2+ regulates the amount of NO by controlling NO production by NO synthetase. It is also possible that Ca2+ regulates neurotransmission. Catalase might protect from cancer with NO, Ca2+, glutathione, redoxin and superoxide dismutase.
