摘要
Plasma metamaterials at microwave ranges have nonlinear properties which arise from synthesized effects of plasma and metamaterial. An analytical model describes bistability and bifurcations of negative permittivity of the plasma when the permeability of the metamaterial is negative. Experimental results show two significant properties of nonlinearity in the same experimental apparatus: bifurcations of the permittivity and harmonic wave generation. These results indicate that plasma metamaterials work not only as variable microwave devices but also as nonlinear media with a double negative system.
