摘要
The courtly world of Wolfram's "Parzival" requires constraints on men's freedom to fight, their relations with women and their social behaviour. These constraints, which reflect an historical shift in the ideals of noble masculinity, elicit resistance and anxiety throughout the text. Wolfram uses the fiction of love service to explore and attempt to contain the constraints on noble male behaviour and the masculine anxieties these constraints provoke.
