Effects of solvent fluctuations on coherent Raman scattering

The excitation spectra of coherent resonant Raman scattering (CEPs) by localized electrons in systems with slow energy fluctuations are considered. Such systems are, e.g. glasses and liquid solutions at low temperatures or crystals in the region of structural phase transitions. In addition to the electron-vibrational interaction, an account has been taken of the fluctuations of pure-electronic frequencies which lead to the different intensity distribution and linewidths in CEPs of CARS and CSRS, identical in the homogeneous case. From the comparison of CARS and CSRS excitation spectra, a possibility of determining fluctuation parameters as well as relaxation times arises. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
