摘要
The Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics (LIAG) has developed a public internet-based geothermal information system called GeotIS. The system with the domain name www.geotis.de provides information and data compilations of deep aquifers and geothermal installations in Germany. The primary objective of GeotIS is to facilitate the exploration of deep geothermal energy. The size and depth levels of geothermal reservoirs, as well as their temperature and hydraulic properties, are the most important factors for geothermal projects. GeotIS helps to identify geothermal potential by visualising subsurface temperature, hydraulic properties and depth levels of relevant stratigraphic units. Basically, it is the digital version of a comprehensive geothermal atlas, which is largely scale-independent and always up to date. Besides scientists and project developers, GeotIS is also used by municipalities for spatial planning in compliance with climate protection targets. The user-interface of GeotIS is available in English and German and can be accessed free of charge with a standard web browser.
