摘要
The article deals with the part-time employment, particularly in the Moravian-Silesian region in the Czech Republic, where unemployment is high (within the Czech Republic) and part-time work could help to reduce it. Our research deals with the possibilities of employing part-time, attention is paid also to the ways of managing employees with part-time jobs and to the comparison of employees with part-time and full-time jobs. This article is based on this research. The data, which was used in the article, were obtained before the termination of data collection - this paper can be understood as preliminary research. The major aim of this paper is to find out how the institute of part-time employment is used in the Moravian - Silesian region, a region of long-term, widespread unemployment, where part-time employment could help improve the situation. The partial aim is to identify the barriers that prevent to expansion of part-time work. In Moravian-Silesian Region works part-time around 6% of the employed. This is a little bit more than the average of the whole Czech Republic (5.5%), but much less than the EU average (approximately 20 %). We found that the use of part-time employment is dependent on the size of an enterprise. All enterprises with over 250 employees make use of part-time work, but only 60 % of small enterprises with less than 50 employees make use part-time. The main obstacle to expansion of part-time jobs is character of a company's activities.
