Analysis of a flexible rotor system including nonlinear squeeze film damping using a finite element method

摘要
This paper describes ways of including non-linear squeeze-film forces within linear models in order to predict the behaviour of a flexible rotor structures containing Squeeze-Film Dampers (SFDs) and flexible supports. Development of the finite element (FE) models of the rotor assembly, includes both full film and half film models. Existing theoretical results of a rigid model permit validation of the FE model. Comparisons of the model against experimental data from an existing purpose built test rig are also discussed. Important practical conclusions are drawn from the experimental data regarding the effect of the size and number of oil feed holes.
