摘要：

The bright and dark solitons described by the nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLSE) are given for a quartic nonlinear elastic rod. It has also been found that the KdV soliton does not exist in this system. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
