Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosis in young women.(1) In the United States, the incidence of breast cancer among women under the age of 50 is increasing by 0.2% per year, and the incidence of distant disease at the time of diagnosis among patients with hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer increased by about 2% per year between 1976 and 2009.(2) A young age at diagnosis has been associated with worse outcomes and less sensitivity to endocrine therapy. Small-molecule inhibitors of cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6 (CDK4/6) have changed the standard of care for patients with advanced hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer. The . . .
