The author deals in this paper with factors of motivation and active students participation in the process of the teaching of the basic course of statistics at the Institute of managerial systems in Poprad - Branch of the Faculty of Economics, M. Bel University, Banska Bystrica. Active participations of students was realized during the summer semester of the academic year 2007/2008 and in the winter semester of the academic year 2008/2009. The active students participation consists of the active preparing, presenting and lecturing some chosen simple parts at the lessons of Statistics. These students presentations were corrected and modified by teacher some days before and during their presentations at the lessons, as well. In the paper the preliminary results are presented, which were obtained from the analysis of the questionnaires answered by students. The aim of the questionnaire was to identify and find some weak and/or strong aspects of this method of education.
