Kinetics of transesterification reaction of the sunflower oil

The aim of the work was to investigate kinetics of sun flower oil with methyl alcohol (5,16 rapport molar methanol/oil) in the presence of potassium hydroxide (0, 4 % wt) at 4,12 and 20 degrees C The variations in mixing intensity (Re = 650, 920 and 1170) were determined by the change of the properties only (the impeller rotational speed 1000 rpm was constant). For a second order reaction proposed, the reaction velocity constants were found to be (l/s) 0, 00159; 0, 00223; 0, 00318 at 4, 12 and 20 degrees C, respectively. The value E = 6965 cal/mole is in the limits of activation energy for these reactions.
