摘要：

A water-soluble chitosan derivative from N-[(2-hydroxy-3-trimethylammonium) propyl] chitosan chloride was prepared with grafting of quaternary ammonium salt groups on the amino groups of chitosan. The influence factors of reaction, such as the molar ratio of reactants, the time, the temperature and the amount of water, were discussed. The structure of this modified chitosan quaternary ammonium salt (simply named in the paper as MCQA) was characterized with FT-IR, H-1-NMR and Chemical titration method. The antibacterial activity of quaternized chitosan against staphylococcus aureus was investigated. It was found that the antibacterial activity of quaternized chitosan against staphylococcus aureus is much stronger than that of chitosan.
