Effect of salinity on leaf pigments, sugar and protein concentrations and chloroplast ATPase activity of rice (Oryza sativa L.)

摘要
Effect of salinity on leaf pigments, reducing sugar, protein concentration and chloroplast ATPase activity was studied in nine genotypes of rice. Under salinity stress leaf pigments were reduced in general, but relatively high pigment levels were found in six genotypes. Sugar content under stress reduced in some, but also increased in five genotypes. Protein level under stress, decreased in all cases. Salinity reduced the chloroplast ATPase activity in almost all cases except in Nonabokra where 14% increase was observed.
