摘要:
Wildland fire protection in the United States has evolved from predominantly protecting natural resources values to protecting values of the urban-wildland interface. Providing fire protection in this "unnatural" ecosystem has become more complex. Wildland fire suppression costs have escalated dramatically, yet the area of wildlands is decreasing. A strategic evaluation is made of the correlation of population growth, rising wildland fire protection costs, and roles and responsibilities of fire protection providers.
