During submarine pipeline construction and operation at significant water depth due to bottom roughness and technical difficulties and cost of intervention works there can appear large free spans. The existence of these spans can create a risk to pipeline integrity associated with vortex shedding induced vibrations or global buckling produced by excessive axial forces and high internal pressure. The essential part of stability analysis is natural frequency calculation. In the present article the authors propose to use dynamic pliability functions (DPF) method as the most precise and universal calculation method.
