摘要
We describe a technique for evaluating the risk posed to transiting ships by multiple threat mine types located in multiple consecutive environmental/tactical segments. We developed this technique for use in the Advanced Risk Evaluation Module (AREM) of the Mine Warfare and Environmental Decision Aids Library (MEDAL) Global Command and Control System-Maritime (GCCS-M) Segment. MEDAL is the U.S. Navy's system for planning and evaluating mine warfare operations. AREM is specifically designed to utilize information concerning the exact locations and types of threat mines that have been located by mine countermeasures operations or by previous ship transits. Earlier Simple Initial Threat (SIT) algorithms dealt with only a single mine type in one environmental/tactical segment and only calculated the risk to the first transiting ship.
