Detailed measurements were used to examine the applicability of GRI-3.0 and C2 mechanisms for predicting the structure of methane-air partially premixed flames. The measured and predicted profiles of temperature and major species mole fractions were compared to partially premixed flames (PPFs) established at an equivalence ratio of 1.4 and strain rates of 100, 150, and 200s−1. For as=100s−1 predictions for both the C2 and GRI-3.0 mechanisms show excellent qualitative agreement with measurements.
