摘要
Extreme flooding events in recent years have renewed interest in flood mitigation techniques, Presented is a dynamic flood control strategy that is consistent with risk-based flood management policy. Control of flood waves is achieved using an adjoint sensitivity method (ASM) based on the shallow-water equations in both one and two spatial dimensions. The efficiency of the ASM allows active control of flood waves, A deliberate levee breach at an optimal time and location during a flooding event is considered as a flood mitigation measure. A second order finite-volume scheme is presented for the monotonic solution of the adjoint shallow-water equations.
