Role of wave-wave interactions in the nearshore bar formation processes

摘要：
The aim of this paper is to present the role of wave-wave interactions in the processes of formation of sedimentary bars. After general theoretical aspects on waves and infragravity waves, results from laboratory and field experiments are presented. It is demonstrated that spatial modulations of the 1(st) harmonic wave envelope may be at the origin of the bar formation. These modulations can be explained through the linear theory of waves for partially standing waves and through non linear wave-wave triad interactions for progressive waves.
