摘要
Regional limb perfusion is a technique that involves intraosseous or intravenous administration of drugs to a limb isolated from the rest of the body, resulting in extremely high concentrations of the drug in that area. The common application of this technique is treatment of localized infections, which can sometimes be difficult to resolve and expensive to treat with conventional antibiotic therapy. Both intraosseous and intravenous perfusion techniques are easy to perform and do not require expensive equipment. Veterinary clinical studies have shown promising results in treating localized infections, including implant associated osteomyelitis, septic arthritis and infections involving the foot.
