The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment, in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, has several forward subdetectors, consisting of calorimeters close to the beam pipe, that complement the central part of CMS, which covers a pseudorapidity range vertical bar eta vertical bar < 3. The TOTEM experiment, installed around the same interaction point as CMS, is tailored for diffractive measurements. CMS and TOTEM have strengthened their collaboration on a common project to achieve maximum forward acceptance and to perform measurements at full LHC luminosity.
