Centric diatoms from Vietnam reservoirs with description of one new Urosolenia species

摘要
The present paper focuses on taxonomic composition of centric diatoms from tropical reservoirs in Vietnam. The use of electron microscopy technique allowed for the discovery of 17 species belonging to the following 10 genera: Aulacoseira; Cyclotella; Discostella; Melosira; Orthoseira; Puncticulata; Spicaticribra; Stephanodiscus; Thalassiosira, Urosolenia. Ten species are new records for Vietnam flora. One new Urosolenia species (Urosolenia vietnamica Gusev & Kulikovskiy) is described. Biovolume of diatoms reached up to 1.4 mm(3) L-1. Most abundant species with substantial biovolume and highest frequency of occurrence were Aulacoseira granulata (Ehrenberg) Simonsen, Aulacoseira pus/ha F. Meister) Tuji & Houki, Discostella stelligera (Cleve & Grunow) Houk & Klee and Urosolenia vietnamica. The species Azdacoseira granulata and Urosolenia vietnamica reached the highest abundance and biovolume in eutrophic reservoirs. The diatoms Aulacoseira pusilla and Discostella stelligera preferred mesotrophic waters.
