Crystal structure of a novel organic dichromate: [C6H18N2](3)[C2O4][Cr2O7](2)center dot 4 H2O. The title compound, [C6H18N2](3) [C2O4][Cr2O7](2)center dot 4 H2O, has been prepared as single crystals by slow evaporation at room temperature. The crystal structure was solved and refined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. It is built up from organic columns, [(C6H18N2)(3)center dot C2O4](n)(4n+), parallel to the c axis and inorganic wavy layers, [(Cr2O)(2)center dot(4) H2O](n)(4n-), parallel to the (001) plane. The structural cohesion and stability of the ionic arrangement result from coulombian interaction and N-H center dot center dot center dot O, O(water)-H center dot center dot center dot O and O(water)-H center dot center dot center dot O(water) hydrogen bonds.
