摘要
The water planner might seek a new reservoir, but changed consumer behavior might be a more effective response to water shortages. Added to these needs, civil engineers are also expected to be culturally aware and able to compete on a global stage. Because many opinions must be balanced about which knowledge components to include in core curricula, compromises occur with requirements that are spread thinly across important topics. While the categories of the AUCC at Colorado State sound comprehensive, they total only 31 credits, and the requirements in each category are minimal. The concept was to use course packages to integrate the presentation of related topics in meaningful ways. For example, the author developed a course about geomatics, infrastructure, and risk assessment, which has now evolved to the point of having a greater focus on transportation engineering.
