Trends in research about information education in Japanese high schools from the 1980s to 2010s were investigated by reviewing previously published research articles. Articles were collected using the "CiNii" literature database, and articles were categorized after a careful screening process. As a result, 2,520 articles were collected, and 441 were selected as related articles. The trends found for each decade can be summarized as the predawn of information education (1980s), preparation period for realizing information education (1990s), institutionalization of information education (2000s), and the increasing complexity of information education (2010s).
