Blue thermoluminescence (TL) emission of two different beta-irradiated synthetic lithium aluminosilicates (LiAlSiO4 and LiAlSi10O22) grown by sol-gel technique have been investigated. The present work reports on a basic phenomenological description of the TL response of both 1200 degrees C for 12 h preannealed and non-preannealed LiAlSiO4 and LiAlSi10O22. The dose dependence of the total net glow curve exhibits an acceptable linearity in the range of 0.5-5 Gy regardless of the given thermal pretreatment. This behaviour indicates that this material could potentially be suitable for dosimetric purposes. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
