摘要
In the north of Arabia, during the first millennium B.C. and the first centuries of Christianity, nomads from the south of Syria to the north of Saudi Arabia and settled populations of the oasis (Al-Gawf, Tayma' and Al-'Ula) carved inscriptions in stones and rock faces in the various Ancient North Arabian languages and in scripts derived from the South Semitic alphabet. The purpose of this article is to offer an analysis of the inscriptions: their location, a general history of the place where they have been found, their chronology (as far as possible), the subjects of the texts and the main features of the languages of the inscriptions.
