摘要
Nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) are the main air pollutants. Both of them are mostly formed during the process of fossil fuels combustion, while some processes generate very high concentrations of NOx and SO2. In this review the authors describe and summarize the currently used methods and the new techniques that are under investigation. They also give a detailed description of the regulations and sources of SO2 and NOx emissions, as well as their impact on human health and the environment. The authors focus primarily on the environmental protection technologies used in power plants, vehicles, ships, and the chemical industry.
