Synthesis of High-Strength Gel Films and Their Electromechanical Properties

摘要
High-strength (HS) gel films, consisting of poly (2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid) networks with incorporated polyacrylamide were synthesized by photo-initiated radical polymerization. The Young's modulus, tensile strength, and elongation at break of HS gel films were 0.2 MPa, 0.5 MPa, and 150%, respectively. The HS gel film was sandwiched between two poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) doped poly (4-styrenesulfonate) electrodes. By applying an electric field, the HS gel film (20 mm long, 5 mm wide, and 200,urn thick) exhibited quick and intensive bending toward the anode, with a displacement at the end of the gel of 4 mm at 1.5 V. On the other hand, the bending stress of the HS gel film with a thickness of 900,urn was found to be 58 mgf at 1.5 V.
