摘要
Titanium is becoming an important material in dentistry, but not all of the properties of pure titanium lend themselves to dental applications. To optimize these properties, alloying is necessary. This presentation will describe work on characterizing some titanium alloys for grindability and wear, both of which are important properties for dentistry. The metals tested included experimental Ti-Cu alloys and Ti-6Al-4V alloyed with Cu. The results from these metals were compared with those for CP Ti, Ti-6Al-4V, Ti-15Mo-2.8Nb-0.25Si, Ti-13Zr-13Nb, and Ti-15V-3Cr-3Sn-3Al. Improvements in grindability and wear seemed to occur with the presence of multiphase grains and the eutectoid in the alloy.
