Analysis of the tensions perceived by nursing personnel in hospitals in the practice of therapeutic education: implications for their supervision

摘要
The implementation of therapeutic education (TE) programs in France raises tensions among nursing personnel. These tensions arise from the perceived gap between what actually happens in TE practices and the image that they have of it. The aim of this qualitative descriptive study is to determine the nature of these tensions. In 2009, 27 semi-structured interviews were conducted with nursing personnel of the University Hospital of Nantes (France). From grounded theory, the analysis of the interviews revealed three types of tensions: dialogic tensions, cognitive tensions and tensions due to a feeling of helplessness to act. This study looks into the conditions of supervision of nursing personnel.
