Study of structural relaxation in alloys of metallic glasses

摘要
Structural relaxation in the Fe78Si9B11C2 amorphous alloy has been studied by using length change and microhardness measurements. It is observed that, owing to thermal annealing at low temperatures, the density of the amorphous phase and also its microhardness increases before the start of crystallization. Hence the amorphous meta-stable phase can be transformed to a more stable amorphous phase, and also its properties can be improved due to thermal annealing at low temperatures.
