Polyacene (PAS) capacitors

We developed coin-type polyacene capacitors (6 kinds; 414, 609, 621, 920, 2016, 2025-type) with high reliability and larger capacity than that of conventional electric double-layer capacitors. The coin-type polyacene capacitors are currently used for memory back-up of electronic and communication equipment Recently, we have fabricated two types of polyacene capacitors with polyacenic semiconductors (PAS) as both electrodes. The first one is a big coin-type (2477-type), which posses a large capacitance of 31F for power back-up in photo-voltaic systems. The second one is a cylindrical-type PAS capacitor (18650-type), which shows a capacitance of 100F and can discharge at the extremely high power over 100C. It is considered useful as a power back-up, which needs high power, such as for starting drive parts of electric equipment.
