Comparison of Emerging NSAID Pollutants Degradation in Aqueous Media by O3/UV-VIS Processes

摘要
This paper studies the degradation and enhancement of biodegradability of Diclofenac and Ibuprofen, two widely used Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs), by means of O-3, UV-VIS and O-3/UV-VIS processes. The experimental results show that ozonation is efficient for degrading both pharmaceuticals and the UV-VIS radiation treatment is only efficient for the case of Diclofenac. The combined O-3/UV-VIS process improves only Ibuprofen degradation. For both pharmaceuticals, mineralization never exceeds 30% in all the treatments tested and biodegradability increases slightly with the use of O-3 and O-3/UV-VIS.
