摘要
Research is objective of understanding the rusting stages of steel bar in concrete. Several experimental techniques (BSE, XRD, EDAX and Raman Microscope) were used to analyze the corrosion products formed on steel bars embedded in concrete exposure to salt wetting and drying condition, which is very similar to the actual engineering environment compared with the Galvanostatic Method. It was found that rust was composed of two layers: an outer one compacted with goethite (alpha-FeOOH) and lepidocrocite (gamma- FeOOH) mixed with maghenite (gamma-Fe2O3), and the inner porous rust composed of goethite (alpha-FeOOH) and lepidocrocite (gamma- FeOOH), and mixed with the magnetite (Fe3O4). The pressure generated by expansion of rust around steel bars differs because of different corrosion products and makes the variation of corrosion dense and transformation between corrosion compounds.
