Giant magnetoresistance in La0.8Sr0.2FexCo1-xO3 (0.025<=X<=0.3)

The electrical resistance and magnetoresistance of La0.8Sr0.2FexCo1-xO3 (0.025 less than or equal to X less than or equal to 0.3) have been studied at low temperatures down to 1.5 K and magnetic fields up to 7.5 T. The large magnetoresistance at high and low temperature has been found. The magnetoresistance exhibits a broad minima in the temperature interval between 150 and 50 K for all the compositions. The large magnetoresistance and its broad minima may be interpreted as the interplay of spin state transition, Jahn-Teller distortion, and orbital ordering of Co ions.
