摘要
Cystic teratoma and dermoid cyst are benign germ eel tumors that contain tissues derived from all three embryonic lines. They are common in the ovary. Only a few cases have been reported in men, at various sites. A case is reported of retroperitoneal benign cystic teratoma with ascites-like symptoms in a 24-year-old man. Imaging studies were suggestive since they showed cystic lesions with heterogeneous contents occupying most of the abdominal cavity and displacing the intestinal loops without modifying fold contours. Histology confirmed the diagnosis. Although remote, the possibility that some cysts and tumors can imitate abundant ascites should be borne in mind. The management of these tumors relies mainly on surgery. The longterm prognosis of mature teratoma is excellent, as shown by the case reported here.
