Change processes in higher education were investigated in this study. Firstly, it was assumed that information, participation and justification are positively related to procedural justice. Secondly, it was assumed that procedural justice in turn correlates positively with commitment to change and person-organization fit. Thirdly, it was hypothesized that procedural justice mediates the positive relationship between process variables and both commitment to change and person-organization fit. At a German university, where several change processes were conducted, 315 members of academic staff were surveyed. Structural equation modelling results showed significant relationships between information and justification on the one side and procedural justice on the other side. Results also demonstrated significant positive relationships between procedural justice and both commitment to change and person-organization fit. Furthermore, procedural justice mediated the positive relationship between information and justification and between commitment to change and person-organization fit, as assumed.
