摘要：
Carcinoid tumors can present a difficult diagnostic and therapeutic dilemma. Despite their reputation as indolent tumors, they frequently metastasize and can cause significant symptomatology. Surgery plays an increasingly important role in the initial and long-term management of patients who have these tumors. Operative intervention can decrease symptoms, relieve obstruction, improve quality of life, and offer patients their only chance at a cure.
