Densities and speed of sound measurements of two mono-saccharides D(-)-ribose and D(+)-xylose have been taken in water and in aqueous trisodium citrate in concentration (0.2, 0.4, and 0.6) mol kg(-1) at T = (288.15, 298.15, 308.15 and 318.15) K and atmospheric pressure. Apparent molar volumes (V-phi), apparent molar volumes at infinite dilution (V-phi(0)) and corresponding transfer apparent molar volumes (Delta V-phi(0)), partial molar expansion coefficients (partial derivative V-phi(0)/partial derivative T)(P) and their second derivative (partial derivative V-2(phi)0/partial derivative T-2)(P), isentropic compression (K-phi,K-S), isentropic compression at infinite dilution (K-phi(0),(S)), transfer apparent molar isentropic compression at infinite dilution (Delta K-phi(0),(S)) have been calculated using experimental density and speed of sound data.
