Aspects of the complementary roles of muon and neutron beam techniques in the investigation of magnetic systems are presented and discussed, particularly in the context of studies of spin fluctuations and spin glass-like behaviour in itinerant electron antiferromagnets (e.g. YMn2, beta-MnAl) and ferromagnets (e.g. Ni3Al).
