A mild and facile synthesis of substituted pyrroles using silica supported sodium hydrogen sulfate as a heterogeneous catalyst

摘要
Substituted pyrroles have efficiently been synthesized from amines and hexane-2,5-dione following the modified Paal-Knorr method at room temp in the presence of silica supported sodium hydrogen sulfate (NaHSO4 center dot SiO2) as a heterogeneous catalyst. If the amine is liquid the synthesis can be carried out under solvent-free conditions. The pyrroles have been obtained in high yields and in short reaction times.
