摘要
The present study focuses on the implementation of a cascaded multilevel inverter utilizing only a single DC power source and capacitors. A standard cascaded multilevel inverter requires n DC sources for 2n + 1 levels. This study proposes a new topology for seven-level cascaded H-bridge (CHB) multilevel inverter using a single DC source which permits the usage of a single DC power source with the remaining n-1 DC sources being capacitors. Switching pattern is based on the redundant switching states and multicarrier level-shifted pulse width modulation (PWM) technique to control the capacitor voltage at the desired level. Simulation results are presented to validate the efficacious voltage balancing procedure integrated into switching technique and consequently inciting the seven-level voltage waveform at the output with low harmonic contents. It is observed that this incipient topology can be recommended to single phase seven-level cascaded H-bridge inverter for better and improved execution over the previous topologies.
