Aggregation stability of aqueous dispersions of yttrium oxide

摘要
The stability of aqueous dispersions of yttrium oxide with respect to 1 : 1, 2 : 1, and 1 : 2 electrolytes was studied in a wide range of pH values. Calculation of potential curves of particle interaction In the approximation of two identical spheres showed that the aggregation stability of the dispersions in alkaline media is attributed to electrostatic forces. At the same time, high threshold values of coagulation by 1 : 1 electrolytes in pure water and in the presence of hydrochloric acid cannot be explained in terms of the classical DLVO theory and are associated with the existence of structural forces whose appearance is caused. by the extensive hydration of the particle surface.
