Gaseous Hydrogen Sulfide Removal Using Macroalgae Biochars Modified Synergistically by H2SO4/H2O2

摘要
A novel H2SO4/H2O2 combining modification was used to modify two kinds of macroalgae (Sargassum and Enteromorpha) biochars to remove gaseous H2S. Desulfurization performance, mechanism, and kinetics of the biochars were studied. The proposed H2SO4/H2O2 combining modification greatly improves the desulfurization performance of biochars. Compared with common adsorbents, the biochars achieve better desulfurization effects. Desulfurization processes follow the pseudo-first-order model and external mass transfer is the control step. H2S adsorption over biochars means physical adsorption, while chemical adsorption is auxiliary. H2SO4/H2O2 combining modification improves the desulfurization performance by enhancing the pore structure and increasing O-containing functional groups.
