From user needs to telecommunication services

This paper deals with the process of the specification of Telecommunication Services that meet the users expectations of the future. It starts from a layered scheme of the neeh-application-service-network chain. Then it gives an ICT Service model and,focusses on the service/network boundary, addressing the concept of the service components/attribute and their relations with the user needs, and skipping the layers of applications and services. Finally, the implications of the service components/attributes on the underlying network are briefly reviewed.
