摘要：
A failure analysis was carried out on a severely corroded oil pipeline in Bombay offshore. Laboratory studies viz elemental analysis, metallography, hardness measurement, tensile testing of pipeline material, corrosion produce analysis, chemical analysis of produced water, microbial analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) etc. were conducted. The corrosion rate studies were carried out by gravimetric and electrochemical polarisation methods under simulated conditions in order to predict the probable cause of corrosion and prevention of similar failures in future. The combined effect of CO2, SRB, chloride in the low velocity area caused the severe corrosion and failure of pipeline.
