Influence of Size and Shape on Optical and Electronic Properties of CdTe Quantum Dots in Aqueous Environment

摘要
Theoretical and electronic properties of CdTe quantum dots (QDs) in water medium have been investigated experimentally and computationally in the present work. Computed and experimental absorption spectra and electronic band gaps have been studied and compared for different sized/shaped (CdTe)(n) (with n=1-9) nano clusters in aqueous medium. Computed absorption spectrum of (CdTe)(6) QD is perfectly matched with the experimental absorption spectrum of CdTe in water medium. Prepared CdTe nano clusters are almost 8.3 nm of size and their band gap follow the quantum confinement regime.
